who we are

Shane serves as part of the business operations group in the role of office administrator. If you call the office or send an email, you will likely be communicating with him. He helps Rob and Dean in their roles as pastor and finance administrator, and is a contact person for any questions people may have about the church. He also prepares the church bulletin each week. Shane loves being part of the worship team, often playing the keyboard during the Sunday service. He is also involved in the pastoral care team at Lifeway.
Rob heads up the sound and media department. This ministry provides sound engineers and overhead data operators who partner with the pastors and musicians in declaring the glory of God and His ways. We are one part of the body of Christ who has a common goal: that God is lifted up, and His Kingdom is built. Our aim is to ensure that the message of the sermon and the songs is able to be communicated to more than just a handful of people. Without the right amplification, mixing and projection, the message will not be heard or seen, nor will it be clear. Finally we are part of the greatest gig going: to declare the incredible message of God to human eyes and ears, and let human hearts return praise to our God.
Dean serves as Church Treasurer as part of the dynamic Business Operations Group.
He and his wife Lynndy lead a Lifegroup on Friday nights and love joining Lifeway Kidz with their three children. Dean is excited to help facilitate the Church’s mission in reaching out God’s love to the wonderful community of Lara. His interests are engineering, science and motorsports.
My wife Lynda and I have been married for 42 years. We have 2 married daughters and 4 beautiful grandchildren. Lynda and I both gave our lives to the Lord at the same time 33 years ago - wow what a life changer! Very exciting! We owe so much to our God. We worshipped for 31 years at our previous church, where I was discipled and served in different ministries and leadership roles before joining Lifeway 2 years ago, and loving it. I have been leading the mens group for the past year and serve in crèche and on the tea roster. Now I have the privilege of being part of the governing elders team - very exciting. I am looking forward to being part of where God is leading Lifeway. Go team God!
My wife Cherie and I have been a part of Lifeway church since shortly after we were married 16 years ago. Previously I have served in kids church for a number of years and more recently have been and still am part of that music/worship team. Cherie and I also run a life group every second Friday night. It's evident that we are in a new season as a church and I am excited to be a Governing Elder leading into this time. Our God is a faithful God. By prayer and by faith we will be seeking direction for His church.
Rhonda (Ronnie) Douglas has been a member of Lifeway since its inception in 1989 when it was known as Lara Baptist Church. Ronnie has served over 27 years in our Children’s ministry, 11 of those years as the Children’s Minister. Ronnie has a Diploma in Christian Ministry and now works as a school chaplain at Little River Primary and also Northern Bay College, a job she dreamed of having since she was 14. As one of our Governing Elders Ronnie is very excited to see where God is leading the church, particularly in regards to reaching out to our community. Ronnie is married to Lindsay and has two adult children, Tristan and Alannah.
Bruce has been attending Lifeway for the last twelve years together with his wife Jane. They have three adult children. Bruce serves on the eldership and is excited about the return to basic scriptural values being expressed in the life of the church.
I am a retired Baptist minister having been in ministry 50+ years, including five years as a missionary in Japan.
